Last night we were recognized with a Bronze Stevie® Award in the Website category at The 10th Annual American Business Awards for our work on our client IntelePeer’s website. Nikki Tanis and Robin Vaitonis attended the awards ceremony in San Francisco to receive the award.

Three recent headlines made me realize that modern media companies could benefit from some basic brand development and management from the ground up. What is the vision and positioning of the media property? Why are its readers loyal to its content over that of others? What are its values and how do they guide the behaviors of its employees? A disciplined approach to brand strategy development, articulation, and management could help media properties to properly guide their businesses.

New marketing tools that capture the imagination also raise questions about whether and how to use them in your own  programs.  Pinterest, which allows users to organize images and videos (pins) into collections (pinboards), is clearly one such tool that consumers in particular have embraced. Its visually-oriented design presents interesting marketing communications opportunities for B2B marketers as well.  So what’s the best way to use it?

It’s good to be part of a positive trend.  Data from this Spring show hiring in public relations – specifically for communications specialists and managers – is up some 22 percent compared to the same time last year.
